Instituto de Inovação Tecnológica dos Açores

The Institute for Technological Innovation of The Azores (INOVA), is in legal terms a non-profit association established in 1988, with the main goal of empowering the diversification and development of the Azores Autonomous Region companies through the development of new products, processes and services, promoting R&D activities, innovation and the use of new technologies. INOVA Institute is above all a technological based infrastructure that is part of the SCTA- The Azores Scientific and Technological System, and acts in the interface between the regional companies and entities and the knowledge provided by applied research and technological development projects, supported and powered by innovation and technological demonstration initiatives. INOVA’s technical and human resources contribute to research projects and services related to water, thermal and geothermal resources in the Azores. Geothermal energy represents a unique opportunity for the Azores (an outermost region with high energy potential), capable of contributing to a cleaner, sustainable and prosperous energy future.

Their role in Greet GEO

With extensive experience in monitoring and studying the thermal, hydromineral and geothermal resources of the Azores (including around 50 low-enthalpy geothermal occurrences), INOVA contributes to the hydrogeological and geoenvironmental knowledge of these endogenous resources of the Azores, including the characterization of their volcanological framework, hydrochemical characteristics and conceptual model.
